Who we are
At Skipping Stones Fiduciary Consulting (a d/b/a of Skipping Stones Advisors, LLC), we provide institutional-quality retirement plan consulting with the personal attention that only an independent, boutique firm can offer. Formed in 2026 as a Colorado registered investment adviser and owned by Managing Member & CCO David Marom, our firm sits on the same side of the table as plan fiduciaries to ensure your retirement program remains compliant, cost-effective, and competitive.
We provide non-discretionary retirement plan consulting services to employer-sponsored 401(k) and 403(b) plans, plan sponsors, retirement plan committees, and other designated plan fiduciaries.
Why Skipping Stones?
True Independence: We are not tied to any specific recordkeeper or fund family. Our recommendations are driven solely by what is best for your plan and its participants.
Specialized Expertise: We focus specifically on 401(k) and 403(b) plans, helping committees navigate the evolving landscape of ERISA litigation and regulatory changes.
Proactive Governance: We don't just react to problems; we build a proactive framework for fiduciary success, from investment due diligence to fee benchmarking.
Our Core Services
Fiduciary Services (ERISA Section 3(21))
When engaged for fiduciary consulting, we serve as a non-discretionary investment fiduciary under ERISA Section 3(21). We provide independent recommendations and analysis while all final decisions regarding plan investments, service providers, and implementation remain with the plan sponsor:
Investment Governance: Investment menu design and monitoring, performance evaluations, and review of Qualified Default Investment Alternatives (QDIAs).
Fiduciary Support: Committee meeting participation, structured governance support, and assistance in fulfilling ERISA obligations.
Fee & Vendor Oversight: Comprehensive fee benchmarking and objective vendor analysis across recordkeeping, investment management, and plan administration.
Non-Fiduciary Consulting Services
We offer specialized operational and strategic support to help plan sponsors evaluate and optimize their overall retirement program:
Strategic plan design evaluation and market analysis studies.
Request-for-Proposal (RFP) assistance and vendor searches.
Cost analysis, participant engagement strategies, and general audit support.
Coordination with third-party specialists, including ERISA attorneys, TPAs, actuaries, recordkeepers, and accountants.
Participant Education & The Financial HERO™ Framework
To increase employee financial literacy, we deliver participant education incorporating our Financial HERO™ Framework. This framework helps participants evaluate:
Healthcare Savings (HSAs)
Education Savings (529s)
Retirement Savings
Other Savings Objectives
(Note: Educational services are general in nature and provided solely for financial literacy without individualized investment, tax, or legal advice.)
